Leon Vincent Overseas is betting on innovation with Conex

Leon Vincent Overseas is leveraging innovation to modernize its customs procedures with Conex:
With a presence in France, the French overseas departments and territories (DROM-COM), Europe, and every other continent, the Léon Vincent Overseas (LVO) Group has chosen Conex as its sole partner for managing its Customs Declarations. Following the adoption of CUSTOMS via conex™, the implementation of ZEN via conex™ is transforming the organization of document workflows and marks a decisive step toward automation, reliability, and digitization.
An international logistics provider with complex needs
With 1,270 employees, 69 offices worldwide, and 62,990 m² of warehouse space, Léon Vincent Overseas is a major player in international transportation and logistics. Since 1932, LV OVERSEAS has maintained an international presence and offered comprehensive services for the import and export of all types of goods across every continent. The group handles sea, air, road, and rail freight, as well as warehousing, Customs Management, and consolidation. Its clients operate in a variety of sectors, including oil and gas, perishable goods, industrial projects, pharmaceuticals, and event management.
With an international presence (the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the United States, etc.), LVO managed its Customs Formalities using various tools and service providers until 2022. Management decided to streamline and consolidate all procedures with a single partner, Conex, to improve consistency and efficiency.
A collaborative and intelligent platform
The CUSTOMS via Conex™ Customs Declaration Platform is now used by virtually all of the group’s branches (in mainland France and the French West Indies). This transition took place naturally, with teams gradually becoming familiar with the interface. With ZEN via conex™, which was first adopted on a pilot basis before being rolled out across the entire organization, the teams are reaching a new milestone: document processing is centralized, digitized, enhanced by artificial intelligence, and secured by blockchain.
One of the catalysts for the project was a specific need expressed by an LVO client: the ability to determine the cost price per line on its tax returns. Until then, this process had been tedious and time-consuming. With ZEN via conex™, the calculation is performed automatically, reliably, and in detail. This feature, unique in the market, was a decisive factor in Léon Vincent Overseas’s decision to choose Conex.
“Zen is currently the only solution that allows us to meet this customer requirement simply and effectively. With this solution, every Export Declaration from mainland France is automatically mirrored to generate the Import Declaration for the French West Indies, which simplifies and secures the declaration process. We no longer need to enter data twice, and we reduce the risk of errors,” explains Édouard Lucas, Deputy Customs Manager at the Léon Vincent Group.
An Organizational Transformation
Beyond the technology itself, ZEN via conex™ has transformed internal processes at LVO:
– Paper-based workflows have been replaced by a shared digital workflow.
– Filers now work on a collaborative interface, with real-time tracking of cases.
“Our declarants are becoming more productive and developing new skills, as they gain versatility in both exports and imports. From the team’s perspective, the workflow is smoother and more flexible,” concludes Édouard Lucas.
Tailored support
The project’s success also depends on Conex’s support. The teams received training, close monitoring, and functional adjustments using an agile approach.
“Together with our client LVO, we have successfully brought together teams from multiple sites and across various business lines to adopt new processes. Our solutions enhance productivity and security in Customs Management,” said Cédric Pillac, Deputy CEO in charge of Trade at Conex.
Next Steps
The implementation of Safe via Conex™, a solution designed for Customs Clearance procedures, is currently underway. It will complement the ecosystem deployed for LVO and further enhance the security of cargo flows.
